We find swing/lindy dance venues all over the world and frequent Swing 46, The Cotton Club etc because we live in the NYC area.  Initally reluctant about Platforms because it suggests 1970s disco music and that's not our interest, it seems they offer a good variety of  music styles on different nights of the week.  When I first walked in the stripper pole on the upper level  seemed a little creepy, but after that the place is just fun.

 The night we were there they had Frankie Manning in HellsA Poppin playing on the tv screens along with many other great moments in Lindy.  If you don't know Lindy, check out Frankie on youtube -- he invented Lindy in Harlem's Savoy nightclub in the 1930s.  Even if you only like hiphop, if you can't appreciate this, you're just wrong.

 Anyway, the decor at Platforms is fun, the crowd is friendly and there is tons of room to dance, even if the black and white dance floor is full.  As always with a lindy crowd, tons of young people mix with people from that generation who know their way around a dance floor  --  walk right in and feel at home.  The only thing I can say about the guy who gave a two star review because he is uncomfortable around different generations is that in another of one of his reviews he referred to soda as "awesome."
